(Plesk 10.4 centos 5.8 linux apache2 server, with Tomcat5 on port 8080 and Apache Solr) I get “The connection has timed out” on requesting domain.com:8080 or www.domain.com:8080 or ip.ad.dr.ess:8080 Every reason I can find why this might be seems not to be the case: Plesk thinks Tomcat is running fine and lists it as an active service. The firewall currently has an accept all rule on port 8080. There’s nothing relevant in the catalina tomcat [...]Continue Reading »
I have noticed that “logs” and “tmp” content take 36GB and 21GB respectively. I need to free up some disk space and currently wondering is it vise to clean them. Thanks! Asked by spacemonkey Delete logs older than 7 days. find tomcat/logs/ -mtime +7 -print0 | xargs -r -0 rm -rf You probably want to add this as a cronjob too. Before deleting temp-files, you should make sure that nothing is holding them open. Answered [...]Continue Reading »
I am trying to direct files with .jsp extensions to tomcat. Otherwise I want apache to serve the file directly (no tomcat). Currently I have a test.jsp which is supposed to create an HTML page with the current date in the body. Instead when I go to that .jsp I see the JK Status Manager. The mod_jk.logs only show, init_jk::mod_jk.c (3365): mod_jk/1.2.35 initialized. I have tomcat and apache setup on my server. Apache runs on [...]Continue Reading »
: FWI, thanks to Vadym’s comment below, I discovered that I had overlooked to enable mod_proxy_http on my Plesk server. Loading this module (alongside mod_proxy) fixed the original error. I’m trying to configure reverse proxy rules in vhost.conf. I have Apache-2.2.8 on Ubuntu-8.04, monitored by Plesk-10.4.4. What I’m trying to achieve is defining a reverse proxy rule that defers all traffic to -say- http://mydomain/tomcat/ to the Tomcat server running on port 8080. I have mod_rewrite [...]Continue Reading »

From what I understand there are three types of caching, Disk cache on Apache Server httpd.conf Memory cache on Apache Server httpd.conf Tomcat cache on Tomcat 7.0 (Configuring context.xml) Between all the three types of caching which is the faster and the least resource intensive? What is the difference between Apache caching and tomcat cache? When should I use tomcat caching and apache caching? Or can I run both in my cluster? Asked by dwyane [...]Continue Reading »
At present I am redirecting all http urls to https urls using the following directive, RedirectMatch permanent ^(.*)$ https://someserver.com$1 Now I am stuck with an scenario where I have to redirect everything except the URLs like http://someserver.com/test or http://someserver.com/test/users or basically anything that has a /test followed by anything in it. Also, I want to redirect these urls that have a “/test..” to be a normal http to show an access denied page(a html page). [...]Continue Reading »

I need to have a homepage running on my Mac that external users can use. I thought the easiest way, was to make Apache Tomcat running on port 80. But when i try it says that the port are in use. I can’t see anything that are using port 80. What to do??? Since Tomcat is listening on port 80, you need to start it up using sudo. For example: sudo catalina.sh start (I already [...]Continue Reading »
