I’m looking at hosting 3 Websites (there will all use the same linked database resource but I think I have to use 3 websites within Azure for this); www.website.com, provider.website.com and admin.website.com. Using Windows Azure Websites, can you have a Staging, Production slot? I think this feature is only available to Azure Cloud Services but there is little documentation on this. If its not possible, other than spinning up 3 more sites to act as [...]Continue Reading »
The virtual machines on Windows Azure allow to connect from RDP. But how can I reset the administrator password if the password has been lost? Asked by Joannes Vermorel There is no way to do this now, but you can get the data off of the drive if you need to. I might be missing something obvious with the new Management Portal for Windows Azure, but how do I select the subscription where the new resource (compute, storage, site, …) is being created? Can someone pinpoint where the subscription selection takes place in the UI? Asked by Joannes Vermorel You specify the subscription on the last panel. New -> Data Service -> Storage -> Quick Create -> Url/Region/Subscription Answered by Phil Bolduc Check more discussion of [...]Continue Reading »
I’ve seen questions similar to this but haven’t been able to come up with a solution to my problem yet. I’ve been trying to get a site setup with GoDaddy for DNS and windows azure for hosting. I can’t get browsers to pull up midwestcointrader.com They will work fine with both midwestcointrader.azurewebsites.net and www.midwestcointrader.com Here’s what I have configured now. midwestcointrader.com redirects to www.midwestcointrader.com www.midwestcointrader.com is a CNAME for midwestcointrader.azurewebsites.net A record for midwestcointrader.com points [...]Continue Reading »
I know this question has been asked on various forums before, and that all the answer were negative, but many of the answers are quite old, and with Azure developing so quickly it seems useful to ask it again. Can we run a mail server (such as mailenable) on an Azure VM? And if not, why not? I’ve seen one posting on the MS forums (here) that suggests the IP of the Azure machine would [...]Continue Reading »
first of all, I couldn’t find a StackExchange site on Cloud Computing. I think this is the most appropriate site, because some of you might be using Azure. So I just wanted to know: The Windows Azure Pricing Page shows Linux Virtual Machine Price as $0.013/hr for an extra small VM. The monthly price comes up to about $10. Is this price charged as number of hours of computation done on the VM or number [...]Continue Reading »
I am about to launch a website in Windows Azure and I need to poke some holes in our network firewall in order to accommodate certain services like SMTP. I’ve found an MSDN page which seems relevant that describes in-place updates but I’m having trouble making sense out of it. What are the circumstances that trigger a change of IP address for a site in Windows Azure? Asked by Jeff If you delete, then redeploy, [...]Continue Reading »
When using http://cloudflare.ipv6-test.com/validate.php to see if my website if IPv6 compliant, I see that it is not because it requires an AAAA DNS record. My site is hosted on Azure, but I can’t find an IPv6 address within the Azure Web Service (I can only see IPv4). Does Azure support IPv6? If not, is there something else I can/should do to make my website IPv6 compliant? Asked by Techboy Windows Azure only provides an IPv4 [...]Continue Reading »
We have a database hosted by SQL Azure, and accessed via a REST service that itself is accessible only via https. We wonder though whether we should encrypt all or part of the database in case it was to be accessed by a hacker (we are not a prime target, but students will know of the system). The Azure database is set up with firewall rules to allow only a few systems access. Would encrypting [...]Continue Reading »
ISA 2006 , two listeners on the same port with different certificates and methods of authentifications
I couldn’t find an clear answer to the question : -Does ISA 2006 support more than 1 listener on the same port (HTTPS /443 , with the same certificate / and different method of authentication – one to FBA with AD and one with no authentication). I would need that in order to publish ADFS (for Azure ) through the same ISA server where we have the websites published , and I don’t seem to [...]Continue Reading »
