Backdoor and zmeu process on a Linux system [closed]

Possible Duplicate: My server's been hacked EMERGENCY First some background info. The server we’re talking about is running CentOS 5.6, SSH on port 22 which can be accessed over the Internet (bad, we know), Apache on port 8080 which can be accessed over the Internet and MySQL, which can’t be accessed over the Internet. A few days ago this testserver was hacked, due to a really simple password (yep, you’ll find it all over the […]

How to enable SSH key login on CentOS 5.5?

I’m trying to setup SSH login on a CentOS 5.5 on an OpenITC VPS. I should say this doesn’t appear to have SELinux installed, as commands such as sestatus don’t work. I currently have two users, root and M. I wasn’t sure where to put the authorised_keys file, so it’s in both /root/.ssh/ and /home/M/.ssh and root is the owner of the former (and the file) and M is the owner of the latter (and […]

How do I specify the DHCP IP address ? (CentOS 5.3)

I would like to shorten the bootup time of my CentOS Virtual Machines. They are spawn up automatically during our test cycle. We noticed that it could take up to 15 seconds to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server, and suspect it has to do with the DHCP broadcast discovery. How do I hardcode the ip address of the DHCP server in CentOS 5.3 ? [edit] I noticed that the dhclient man page […]

Email server port options

I have a web server that also is my mail server – running dovecot and exim4. I currently have 5 open ports that have to do with serving mail, it seems very excessive to me. Its a dedicated box, I have root access – and most importantly I have control over everyone who receives mail from the box – so I can tell them to configure their mail clients any which way I prefer. 25/tcp […]

SMTP server currently an open relay

I’m using Postfix (2.3.3) on CentOS (5.7). Right now, my server seems to be acting like an open relay. If I specify a login, it works fine, both unsecured and with TLS (however TLS nags me about the invalid certificate, but I guess I just have to get a certificate). That’s what I want, if a client doesn’t support TLS, then fallback to unsecured. However, it seems that if I don’t provide any login, it […]
