Dell Equallogic PS6100x network configuration
So we just picked up a new PS6100x and I’m wondering if I need to setup the ethernet channels myself or is it automatic? It’s configured in an HA setup; dual controllers connected to redundant cisco switches with a 10GE interconnect. On the controller, I’ve enabled eth0-3, each with it’s own IP 172.16.0.50-53, and a group IP address of 172.16.0.10. Do I need to bond the interfaces on the switch or will the controller take [...]

I have a Cisco 3800 with Advanced IP Services running version 12.4(13r). For a client to VPN in using AnyConnect, it looks like I use the webvpn config options (SSL VPN). I followed one of the tutorials (e.g. cisco ssl vpn). Is this the same setup to allow connections from the AnyConnect app on Android devices? Do I need a separate license? Newer version of IOS? I get an error when trying to connect with [...]

We have a LAN with 2x Cisco 4500′s as gateways running HSRP. We’re using Exterity HD IP Encoders to take HD video and put it onto the network as a multicast UDP stream (playable in VLC). I have a fairely extensive Nagios setup on Linux and would like to find some way to check that: Multicast stream is on the network. Multicast stream isn’t frozen, so check for audio or … Confirm the source IP [...]

We have a large area MAN provided by a local cable company. Each location has a cable modem that connects directly back to a central location, i.e. it doesn’t cross the internet, it is a private connection. Each out building shows shows up at the central location though a trunk fiber and each building is a different vlan. The issue is we are in the process of upgrading and merging our networks (there were two [...]

I would like to extend a VLAN on Switch 1, to Switch 2, so could I simply use a crossover cable or a normal cat52/rj45 cable to connect a port on each switch together and then assign the two connected ports to the same VLAN (ID22)?# P.S These switches are not connected together at all at the moment – are there any other connections for this I am missing? Asked by James It’s a little [...]

Am I the only one having issues with the Cisco website? I am trying to download firmware for the NSS4000 and can’t get logged in. I have created like three accounts and they all seem to work but won’t allow a login. Upon attempting a password reset the site just times out. Am I crazy?! Asked by Garrett Dumas I’m able to log in with no real issue. Also this isn’t really a question that [...]

My hoster offers Cisco ACE loadbalancers in 30Mbit capacity steps. I am producing a lot of outgoing bandwidth in the order of gbit/s. I’ve read on a few online resources that there is a configuration that will make the server behind the loadbalancer communicate with the client requesting a download directly so the loadbalancer will only handle the actual GET Request but not the response. However I’ve failed to find this in the official documentation. [...]

I had to downgrade a couple of Cisco 3925 routers last week and one of the steps in the instructions (link provided) was to change the boot command that was given by the following command: Cisco-3925# show run | include boot The downgrade went fine, but what I’d like to know is why this command didn’t show any boot instruction before the downgrade was successful. Here is the output of that command: boot-start-marker boot-end-marker How [...]
