Vyatta: how do I view up fixed DHCP leases settings?

I’d like to know how could I get the MAC-IP DHCP associations. I know that there is show dhcp leases but it only shows information about the active leases. Asked by mariosangiorgio You are looking for the static mapping. This is part of your configuration, not part of a dynamically generated files. You can get it with : show service dhcp-server You can also see additional informations in ls /var/lib/dhcp3/* Answered by CloudWeavers Check more […]

Any way to assign two IPs with different DHCP settings on my network setup?

I currently have a router (Netgear WNDR3700 with DD-WRT; let’s say its hostname is host1) and all the devices are behind its NAT. WAN \ \ host1 (dmz) <router>———[server] / | / | [pc] [laptop] My ISP is setting static IP addresses with dynamic DHCP and it’s determining which IP address should I get by the hostname. The first static IP is assigned to the host1 hostname and I’ve set the ‘host1′ hostname to my […]

Is the native DHCP client for MacOS X able to send “Vendor class identifier” (opTag 60) in a DHCP request?

Is it possible for MacOS X (current version or in any previous one) to easily force DHCP client to send to DHCP server, at the beggining of the conversation – in DHCPDISCOVER packet – option “Vendor Class Identifier” (60) set to some value? I know that I can install i.e. ISC DHCP client through pkgsrc which supports VCI, but I’m looking for something native. Thank you in advance for information. Asked by plluksie This rather […]

Cisco ASA 5505 network route for static IP hosts

I’ve configured my internal VLAN using the most basic settings where ports 1-7 are assigned from a pool of addresses in the range 192.168.15.5 -> 192.168.15.36. These hosts are given access to the internet and it works great. What I’m trying to set up now is allowing users who are connected to the device and specify their IP (say I connect and request 192.168.15.45) are given internet access and can still work alongside DHCP hosts. […]

IPv6 address preference and privacy extensions on Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04

I have a dual-stack network with a DHCPv6 server in a stateful mode (managed address configuration). Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 hosts get the address configuration successfully, but still prefer the randomly generated addresses for a source address with a prefix advertised by RA. If the privacy extensions are turned of with netsh interface ipv6 set privacy state=disabled, the problem disappears and the DHCP-provided address is used as a source. I would like to know […]

Ubuntu 12.04 Server static ip configuration

I had some trouble getting the static ip configuration right for Ubuntu 12.04 Server. Every time I would restart the server the nameserver settings in /etc/resolv.conf would get overwritten by dhcp client. Many tutorials suggest doing an apt-get remove for dhcp-client but this didn’t work for me either. I found this page that documents how to do this in 12.04. Answer: You basically need to add your nameserver settings in the /etc/network/interfaces file like so: […]
