Allowing manager access to user’s email stealthily

Environment: Exchange 2010 SP1, Outlook 2010 Pro Plus We have a manager that needs access to a user’s live email box without that user knowing about it (suspected wrong doing). Obviously, we could give the manager Full Access permission in Exchange but if the manager accidentally clicks on an unread item or deletes something then it might give it away that they are accessing it. Also, we can’t add the manager as a reviewer to […]

Find out when user was added to Exchange 2010 distribution group

Is there a way to find out when user was added to distribution group and by who? Probably thru AD or Exchange Management Console? Or such information is not stored anywhere? Asked by MadBoy If you have Directory Service Change auditing enabled, there would be a 5136 event in the security event log on the domain controller where the change was made. You can also identify when the member attribute was last changed. If the […]

Exchange 2010 double sending automatic replies

A bit of an odd situation has come up. My exchange 2010 server has started to send double “Automatic Reply” messages recently and I’m not quite sure why this is happening. The only change that we’ve made recently was we had an Exchange Server that we were replicating to with Double Take availability, and we stopped the job on the weekend to send the machine offsite to our DR site. It was around this time […]

Exchange 2010 – Send Connectors

I understand in Exchange 2010 in order to send out to the big bad Internet you require to configure a send connector to allow SMTP to *, or to your smart host etc. My question is how does Exchange 2010 handle mail being delivered interally, i.e. to a another mailbox within Exchange, is there a send connector for this? Separate Queues in Queue Viewer for internal mail etc? Thanks! Asked by TheD Send connectors are […]

New Exchange 2010 CAS cannot find domain controllers

I am experiencing problems migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. I am on the first step: installing a new 2010 Client Access Server role. The Active Directory domain functional level is 2003. All domain controllers are 2003 R2. The only existing Exchange 2003 server happens to be housed on one of the domain controllers. It is running Exchange 2003 Standard w/ SP2. IPv6 is enabled and working on all domain controllers, servers, and routers, […]

How to create a default retention policy in Exchange 2010?

I want to create a retention policy in Exchange 2010 (SP2), apply it to all existing mailboxes (and this is easy), and then have it automatically applied to all new mailboxes. Is this possible? How? Asked by Massimo You can write a script and run it daily (get a list of all mailboxes without a retention policy) or use a cmdlet extension agent to detect when mailbox is created and automatically assign a rentention policy […]

powershell: Find all mailboxes on Server Foo whose owners are in AD group Bar

I am unsuccessful at attempting the following – maybe I have not correctly grasped the connection between AD users and Exchange mailboxes, also I often fail at seeing the simple ways for manipulation in powershell: I have several Exchange servers in my domain and need all mailboxes that are on a given server (“Foo”) where the owning AD user is a member of AD group “Bar” Thanks for any help Asked by Hagen von Eitzen […]

How do I find who created or modified an Exchange 2010 contact in a public folder?

Like the subject says, I’m looking to find out who made a change to a public folder contact in Exchange 2010. I have a couple of use cases: Who added these contacts? Who deleted that contact? I imagine they would have different places to look, but maybe not. Some kind of audit log in Exchange? It looks like Public Folder Contacts – Exchange 2010 has the answer for my second use case, bummer. Asked by […]

Receive total send and received emails Exchange 2010

We are using Exchange 2010. I would like to retrieve a list of total sent emails and received emails from all users in the work place for 30 days. The list should have all the users’ names, then total of sent and received emails. I have tried the example code below and tried to change this to no avail. Get-MessageTrackingLog -Recipients user01@yourdomain.com -start “10/22/2011 00:00:00” -end “11/21/2011 11:59:00” -EventId “receive” | measure-object Get-MessageTrackingLog -sender user01@yourdomain.com […]
