SBS2011 SharePoint 2010 – Word/Excel prompting for password
I am accessing the built in SharePoint 2010 on SBS2011 via Microsoft Office Excel and Word (opening a file from WebDAV http file mapped drive in Explorer). When saving a file, I get prompted from within Microsoft Office 2010 Word/Excel for credentials – entering the correct credentials just prompts the window again. Clicking cancel allows me to go to My computer -> mapped drive and save the file. I am able to browse the SharePoint [...]

How can I package office 2010 applications individually for distribution via SCCM 2012? I can package the office suite with no problem using an MSP file to customize it, but if I install only Excel for example using setup.exe /adminfile excelonly.msp, I can not later run the install again with a different MSP file to add Word to the existing installation. Error I get is: The /adminfile command-line option can be used only during initial [...]

Recently I installed a watchguard xtm 21 appliance. Everything went fine until I updated from Office 2007 to Office 2010. Behind my watchguard appliance I’ve got an Exchange 2007 server, which I was able to reach with Outlook 2007 (when working remote over ssl vpn connection). Now with Outlook 2010, working remote over ssl vpn, I’m not able to reach my Exchange server. Do I need to change some settings, (port configuration?) specific for Outlook [...]

We have a domain network with about 30 computers and an active directory on Windows Server SBS 2003 32bit. I’ve recently installed Microsoft Office OneNote and the problem started with and seems to be associated with it. Whenever I connect to this server from my Windows 7 Pro 32bit client where OneNote is installed, even if OneNote is closed, it automatically opens and asks me where I want to place a certain printout. A box [...]

I am about to give active directory domain users access to a Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Server. The server has Office 2010 installed. Is it possible for the users to retrieve the installation/product key of Office? If so, what is the best way to avoid that? Edit: so as I expected your companies keys are on the street when using VLKs Asked by Jorrit Reedijk Use KMS instead of a VLK for office. Answered [...]

When trying to save a new document directly from the Office 2010 program to a SharePoint 2010 document library the users are prompted to input credentials. So far by adding ntlm-auth settings to Firefox and automatic logon for IE9 the users are not prompted to give their domain logon when trying to open the files. How do I carry these settings over to apply to saving a new document as well? Asked by CokaKola99 If [...]

I’m trying to automate the uninstall/install of Office. Removing 2007, installing 2010. I’ve downloaded the OCT and made changes as I needed. In there I can select, “Remove the following earlier versions of Microsoft Office Programs:” and you can select which to remove (default Remove All), or you can select the option “Default Setup behavior; earlier versions of installed programs are removed.” Initially I tried the Default Option, but it gave me the below error. [...]

We have an Apache Subversion server that we store (amongst other things) all of our documentation on. We have a lot of Word, Excel, PDF etc. documents in svn, and all of our users use TortoiseSVN as their client interface. A lot of those users will also browse the repo through a web browser, which (unfortunately) is often Internet Explorer. Recently we started trialling Office 2010 (coming from 2003) and found that documents from the [...]

I am looking to move a file share (100 GB or so) from one domain/server to a new domain and server. I would like to do this with little to no downtime and if possible I would like to be able to map permissions from the groups/users in the current system to groups/users in the new domain. A side question, a large number of the files in the system are office documents with hard links [...]
