Server-side redirect does not work on auto-forwarded e-mails

I am trying to set up automatic forwarding of specific e-mails to an external address. Scenario: Company A (e.g. me) is responsible for a certain function at large company B. One of the communication channels is an e-mail account at company B (service@b.com). To enable a better service, we want to automatically forward certain e-mails from service@b.com to an issue-tracking tool at company A (issues@a.com) Company B use Exchange 2007 as a mail-server Handling of […]

Outlook 2007 Won’t Connect With Exchange 2010

I just moved a company to a new office location, but the client computers running Outlook 2007 won’t connect to the Exchange 2010 server. The company has a new static IP address, but all of the MX records have been updated already. Plus, this really seems like an internal issue anyway. The company is all on one domain. Outlook web access works just fine, as do all of the smartphones. Email can be received and […]

Outlook hangs for 20 minutes on startup

I have a user whose Outlook 2007 client goes “not responding” for 20 minutes every time it launches. It’s connecting to Exchange 2010, and this is specific to 1 user’s laptop. Here’s what I have already tried: Safe mode – it still hangs in safe mode SCANOST with a repair, it continued to hang on startup general Office diagnostic, it said it found & corrected 1 installation issue, but did not help. Deleted WORD.PIP, a […]

Can Exchange 2010 retention policy be used to nullify AutoArchive?

This is my first foray into E2010 retention policies and I am unsure I understand it all completely. What I am hoping to do is turn off AutoArchive for users within my organization. I suppose many of you have seen this: AA is on, it pops up, and silos a bunch of mails on the user’s computer. Over the years, I’ve found various ways to turn it off that have mostly worked but they’re solutions […]

Forcing Outlook 2007 to connect to Exchange via HTTP/S (Outlook Anywhere)

We have a L2L VPN tunnel that keeps going down – our Exchange 2010 Server is hosted across the tunnel. I am wondering how to force Outlook 2007 to connect via HTTP or HTTPS to the Exchange Server at all times so that this is never an issue. The Exchange server is exposed to the Internet on ports 25, 80, and 443. OWA works when the L2L tunnel is down. Note that I have already […]

Server does not support secure connections

Out of the blue suddenly all outgoing email messages are delayed since yesterday. Exchange generates a warning email stating that delevery is delayed. Troubleshooting the Exchange message queue unearths that the error is ‘server does not support secure connections’ I did not touch any settings recently, the server’s third party certificate is valid through 2013. What is happening? EDIT: I checked the Certicicate using Get-ExchangeCertificate | fl. I found a few self-issued certificates that were […]

Outlook 2007: Could not install the custom actions. The object could not be found

I have a user who is getting a warning message dialog every time he opens a message window in Outlook 2007: Could not install the custom actions. The object could not be found. Clicking OK dismisses the dialog and everything appears to work fine. Found the solution. It was caused by the Microsoft LiveMeeting add-in. It created a message form in the C:Users[current user]AppDatalocalMicrosoftFORMS folder that was corrupted. Deleted it and it fixed the problem. […]
