The issue I am trying to solve is to do with users getting a Cannot Send Item error in Outlook 2007 connecting to Exchange 2007. Basically if there is an image in the email (either one they have pasted in or one from another email in the chain) they get a “Cannot Send Item” error. Initially thought it was a citrix issue but users get it when they RDP to a server as well. Changing [...]

Where exactly are the Outlook configuration settings contained in a Windows 7 Office 2010 user profile? I want to move a user from Win 7 Office 2010 to Win 8 Office 2013 but rather than keep the whole user profile I would rather start with a new Win 8 profile and just add back the Win 7 Outlook configuration if that is possible. Asked by NickC The key you need is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles [...]

This is another question in a short series regarding a challenging Exchange project my co-workers have been asked to implement. (I’m helping even though I’m primarily a Unix guy because I volunteered to learn powershell and implement as much of the project in code as I could.) Background: We have been asked to create many distribution groups, say about 500+. These groups will contain two types of members. (Apologies if I get these terms wrong.) [...]

One of our clients has been having problems where whenever an external email has multiple recipients on their domain, each recipients receives it a matching number of times (see below). This only occurs for emails originating from outside the company. To: 1 user; 1 email received To: 3 users; 3 emails received per user. To: 1 user (+1 gmail address); 1 email received per user. To: 2 users (+1 gmail address); 2 emails per user [...]

Our users have mutliple SMTP addresses in Exchange. We set one as their default reply-to. From Outlook (for e.g., I’m using 2010 64 bit in Windows 7), in the e-mail compose window, there’s a dropdown with all the user’s SMTP addresses: However, when I chose one that is not my default reply-to address, I get an error like the following: Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: Recipient’s name You can’t send a message [...]

In Outlook Global address lists, there are fields at the top. Name Title etc. I would like to change and remove some of these fields, but I cannot find how to do this. We are running Exchange 2010, Active directory on 2008 R2. I would like to change the Location section. Asked by Matt According to this post an Outlook MVP states that it is not possible to customize the Outlook GAL dialog. You can [...]

I am a programmer and don’t have experience in Outlook configurations. Our company has two email domains namely xyz.com and xyz.biz. Each employee has an email id on one of these domains but not both depending on the project they are working on. The problem we are facing is that when a communication email is sent from the Accounts, HR, Admin, etc departments, they need to send the email twice. Once through the xyz.com account [...]

Alright, all research thus far has failed me, this must be a somewhat obscure problem. I think I am close but I need an answer as to whether or not what I am trying to do is possible so I don’t waste more of my time if I am heading down a dead end. Here is the situation. I have been asked by the powers that be to disable the “Mobile Options” in Outlook 2010 [...]

In my environment, I have Exchange 2007, ccr environment with 2 MB, 2 HT, and 2 CAS servers. We are currently using Outlook 2010 as our email client for the terminal server. The client is configured to connect directly to exchange, not cached mode. Lately our users have complaints about speeds and performance in Outlook 2010, such as when they select a folder, it takes the server several minutes for the folder to display the [...]
