IIS with ASP MVC vs nginx with php preformance

I’m wondering what does asp mvc performance look like in comparison with php on nginx. IIS itself is much more demanding than nginx. But does it start to benefit at some amount of users? 1) Let’s say I have a machine 1.6GHz and 1.75GB RAM (parameters form the smallest reserved hosting on Azure). Will they perform similarly? How many viewers will be required to balance the initial IIS requirements? 2) Let’s now talk about a […]

PHP shows page source code in browser

I have Windows 2008 Server with IIS, PHP, MySQL installed on it and there are several PHP websites working fine. But when I try to open one of my websites in a browser it shows the source code of page instead of executing the PHP code. I thought that this is related to the MySQL database connection at first, but when I installed Vs.Php for Visual Studio 2010 and tried to open my website, it […]

Let IIS 7 return php files as simple html file

I have a virtual server (Windows 2008 R2) with IIS 7.5 and a xxx.php file in one of my websites. This php file contains no php-code and I don’t want to install any php-module, I only want the server to return the content of the php file as if it was a normal .html file. I have a file with the same content named xxx.html in the same directory and that works, but instead of […]

Nginx & PHP-FPM – .php File not found – Can’t figure out why

I have done days of reading on this issues, as admittedly, I am an Nginx newb. I have read official and unofficial documentation alike and can’t seem to solve my problem. Hopefully, someone here will be kind enought to help me out. I can server my html pages, such as 403, 404 and 50x.html so I know nginx is working in some capacity. My https redirect also works. I can telnet to PHP FPM on […]

I can reconstruct the actual URL post rewrite rule, but is there a way for me to get the URL pre rewrite rule? Also, when I run php in IIS 7.5, and have rewrite rules in my web.config, how do I get the pre rewrite URL in my php? Asked by Robert Louis Murphy In Apache, the pre-rewritten URL is available in a server variable $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']. Answered by Ansari Check more discussion of this question. […]

PHP on Windows as Fast-CGI (IIS vs Apache)?

We currently have a Windows web server. It’s running Apache and PHP as a module. The server itself is a beast but PHP performs poorly in a Windows environment when installed as an Apache module and we’re experiencing this first hand. Anyway, this weekend I plan to reconfigure the server for a FastCGI installation instead and I was going to use IIS7 instead of Apache. Here’s the problem though, we have a lot of sites […]

Using a WordPress Header Externally [closed]

I’m trying to use the WordPress header from my site with my PunBB forum installation in order to give my site a bit more continuity. Anyway, I’ve got the header stuck on the forum in a test theme I’m using (a test theme for the forum, not WordPress), but I’ve run into some problems with CSS. Basically, the various CSS files from the WordPress theme conflict with the files from the forum theme, so I […]
