Exchange 2007 and 2010: Weekly report of internal email needed

I have two Exchange mailbox servers. One running 2007 the other 2010, both Standard edition. I’ve looked at 3rd party solutions to get email statistics, and I’m sure they’ll work fine. I like MessageStats in particular. But, I’m curious if there are any free tools or scripts (or even under $500) out there that can give me a weekly report of internal emails (sent/received without going through the SMTP connectors), for both versions/servers. Asked by […]

Easiest way to view who has been logging in to activesync on Exchange Server 2003?

I am looking for the easiest way to view/audit which users are logging in to ActiveSync on my Exchange Server 2003 machine. For example, various adroid/iphone and other mobile devices are set up this way. I would like to be able to report or view who is currently using it, ideally for a time frame. I am assuming there is probably a log file in IIS, and I could run that through some kind of […]

FSRM unable to create new reports after removing old LUN

We are running a 3 node failover cluster file service based on server 2008 R2 and iSCSI Storage Arrays. We have recently migrated all storage from one cluster file service on one LUN to a new file service on a new LUN. The old file service had a few storage reports assigned to send large file reports etc… Since removing the old LUN completely from the system, the file server resource manager will not let […]

IBM Cognos for BI Reporting

I would like to setup a business intelligence dashboard that reports on current system health. How difficult is Cognos in terms of setup, and when it comes to developing the dashboard does it use its own proprietary scripting language? My company has just installed Cognos as a BI reporting tool. Setup wasn’t all to easy and required us to get a outside consultant to help implement a dashboard. That being said there are Cognos classes […]

What tools are available to capture and report system (application, database and sys) metrics?

I’m looking at setting up a tool for collecting usage data and KPIs from multiple systems on various platforms. We’d like to regularly report on key indicators on system usage and health. It doesn’t need to be real time monitoring just monthly indicators of performance and usage. The systems that would feed into would be vary from Solaris boxes running large ERP app, to IIS running our intranet. We’ll agree on 2-5 kpi’s for each, […]

Bluecoat Reporter alternatives?

We are using Bluecoat’s ProxySG device in our office. It is sending its logs to an instance of Bluecoat Reporter running on a Windows 2003 server. I’ve had a difficult time with the software. It seems to stop processing logs fairly often. Now it’s complaining about not being able to find a handler process when you connect to the web GUI. Is anybody out there using something else for processing their Bluecoat logs? The Bluecoat […]

Good Windows event log analyzing/reporting tool?

I’m looking for a Windows eventlog analyzing and monitoring software for Windows Server 2000/2003 (there are some new features in Windows Server 2008.) The feature set should include: real-time monitoring (alerts via email or other messages) definition of events/event groups which are watched multiple-server reporting (daily/weekly etc. reports) nice client tools not necessarily free or open-source, but that would be nice (of course) Any recommendation or tip how to implement this using standard tools? Thanks! […]

What’s the best tool for usage reporting on a NetScreen Firewall?

Anyone got a good product for Usage Reporting for a NetScreen Firewall. I went looking for Webtrends Firewall Suite but it appears to have disappeared into the NetIQ product line up. I am going to try out ManageEngine (I think is also AdventNet)’s Firewall Log Analyzer. But wanted to know if anyone had any good recommendations. Thanks, Rob I work at NetIQ and can confirm that WebTrends Firewall Suite became NetIQ Firewall Suite back in […]

Reinstall Reporting Services 2005

We are having problems with our reporting services portion of SQL server 2005. Can someone provide some guidance for reinstalling reporting services? Have you tried just removing the virtual directories from IIS and running the report configuration wizard again? This is what I have done when our installation went wonky and not only was it quick and painless, it resolved the problem too! NOTE: We had a security issue where no client could view the […]

GLSA-check for Ubuntu or Debian?

glsa-check is a tool to report a server’s exposure to known security vulnerabilities. Has anyone written a tool to do a similar thing for apt based systems? Check the Security HOWTO for Debian which refers to vulnerability scanners like Nessus. While not as Free as it used to be, Nessus is still considered the #1 tool for UNIX vulnerability scanning. If you have the security repository for Debian or Ubuntu installed, you can apt-get upgrade […]
