Windows Cluster – Can I failover without disturbing SQL?

I have a 3 node cluster. All of the nodes are part of Cluster01 in what should be A/A/P mode. Usually instanceA and instanceB of SQL Server would reside on NodeA and NodeB respectively. the windows cluster resources would reside on NodeA and NodeC would be the passive node. Currently, our configuration is as follows: NodeA has the cluster resource group which contains the Quorum, Windows Cluster IP and HostName as well as the MSDTC […]

How would Microsoft know that my MS SQL Server is Genuine and properly licensed?

All I have is just a Word Document inside the CD….. My company purchased an SQL Server a long time. We contacted the ex-employee and he mentioned to us that the license can be found inside the SQL Installer CD. When we opened the SQL CD, we saw the license file. It was just a simple word document which can be edited, copied and easily distributed. There was no reference to our company name or […]

Here are all the informations I have at my disposal about the problem : A button on the web-app lauches a SQL/Oracle procedure that takes about 5 to 10 minutes to come to an end successfully. The application is deployed on two distinct environnements. The Apache/Tomcat server configurations appear to be the same. The physical architecture, instead, is different (memory ressources, etc.) On […]

How to migrate SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2 on new hardware with same server name

We have a need to migrate from existing hardware that is running SQL 2005 to new hardware running SQL 2008 R2. When all is said and done we want the same IP and hostname that was on the “old sql 2005″ server to be on the new SQL 2008 R2 server hardware. This is because we don’t want to mess with client connection settings or things that are hardcoded in programming, etc. We currently have […]

Any other configuration for MySQL database?

I’m trying to set up a MySQL database, and all seems to be working except I cannot get PHP files to communicate with it. Just to be clear, the PHP files are correct, along with the host name, username, and password (I got the files from EasyAPNS). I have all of the ports open and phpMyAdmin does work, and PHP files run. I cannot get the database to work though. When the PHP files from […]
